Day 1
Delhi - Palampur
• Depart Delhi early (around 6 AM) for Palampur, about 510 km / 9-10 hrs, via Panipat,
Ambala, Chandigarh and Una, with breakfast at Murthal and a lunch stop on the way.
• Optional stop in Chandigarh: the Rock Garden or Sukhna Lake, if you have time.
• Arrive in Palampur, the 'Tea Capital of North India', in the evening and check in to your
hotel.
• Evening: stroll through the tea gardens and the Neugal Khad viewpoint, with the Dhauladhar
range as a backdrop.

Day 2
Palampur Local Sightseeing - Andretta and Baijnath
• Morning walk through the Wah Tea Estate to see how the Kangra tea is grown and
processed, and sample the local green tea.
• Visit Neugal Khad and the nearby Neugal Cafe for a view of the Dhauladhar peaks.
• Visit Baijnath Temple, a heritage Shiva temple from the 13th century, about 16 km from
Palampur, known for its fine stone carving.
• Visit Andretta, the artists' village, with the Sobha Singh Art Gallery, the Norah Richards
theatre and the pottery studio.
• Optional: Bir Billing, about 30 km, a popular paragliding site (best October-November and
March-June), with the Chokling and Sherabling monasteries.
• Return to Palampur for the evening and local dinner.

Day 3
Palampur - Kangra - Dharamshala - McLeodganj
• After breakfast, drive to Kangra, about 35 km, for Kangra Fort, one of India's oldest forts,
with its ancient gates, palaces and views over the Banganga river.
• Visit Brajeshwari Devi Temple, the Shakti Peeth temple in Kangra, and the Kangra Art
Museum in Dharamshala.
• Drive to Dharamshala, about 18 km, and visit the Dharamshala War Memorial and Kotwali
Bazaar. Photo stop at the HPCA Cricket Stadium, one of the world's most scenic cricket
grounds, set against the Dhauladhars.
• Continue to McLeodganj, about 10 km, check in and enjoy the evening at the Tsuglagkhang
Complex (Dalai Lama Temple), the Namgyal Monastery and the Tibet Museum.
• Browse the Tibetan market on Temple Road for thangkas, prayer flags, jewellery and
woollens, and try momos and thukpa.

Day 4
McLeodganj Local Sightseeing and Trek
• Morning visit to Bhagsu Nag Temple and Bhagsu Waterfall, about 2 km from McLeodganj,
and then the Dharamkot village.
• Experience: Triund Trek, about 9 km one way from McLeodganj / Dharamkot, a moderate
4-5 hr trek to a ridge with panoramic Dhauladhar views. Full-day, optional, with a local
guide.
• Alternative: visit St John in the Wilderness church, a colonial-era heritage church from 1852,
and Lord Elgin's grave, set in a deodar forest.
• Visit Naddi village for a sunset view over the Kangra valley and the Dhauladhar range.
• Optional: Tibetan cooking class, meditation or a visit to the Library of Tibetan Works and
Archives.
• Evening: Tibetan market, cafes and live music in McLeodganj.

Dharamshala Local Sightseeing - Sidhpur and Chamunda
• After breakfast, visit Norbulingka Institute in Sidhpur, a centre for Tibetan art and culture,
with its temple, gardens, workshops and doll museum.
• Visit Gyuto Monastery in Sidhbari, one of the main monasteries of the Tibetan Gyuto
tradition.
• Visit the Chamunda Devi Temple, a Shakti Peeth temple on the banks of the Baner river,
with a mountain backdrop and cremation ghat.
• Afternoon: Dal Lake (Tibetan community lake) and the Tibetan Children's Village, or time for
shopping in Dharamshala.
• Safari: Pong Dam Lake Bird Sanctuary, a day-long alternative about 60 km away, for
boating and birdwatching, with winter migratory birds from about November to February
(optional).
• Evening at leisure, with a final dinner.
